Exactly 20 years after the double exhibition “Back from Japan”, a new context emerged at the Schliekerhaus Bochum: this time, an exciting contrast between my exclusively sculptural works and the explosions of color in Johannes Buchholz’s art.

In relation to his large-scale drawing/painting “Dahlia”, the diverse miniatures composed of assembled found objects form a corporeal and subtly thought-provoking counterpart. As “Sceno-Gnomies”, staging fragments of everyday life through their respective materiality, they simultaneously generate an open interplay of questions and answers, sometimes accompanied by poems.

These creative encounters, oscillating between existential and humorous aspects, also evoke the spirit of Max Imdahl, to whom this exhibition is likewise dedicated.
